Update for NGI Zero Entrust: GNS to DNS Migration and Zone Management
We are happy to announce that we have successfully completed two Milestones:
- Milestone 1a: Deplyment of zones via AXFR.
- Milestone 2e: Documentation and release of GNUnet GNS Registrar.
Our name registration service at https://fcfs.gnunet.org has been running for some time now. The registrar integrates with GNU Taler, allowing you to test both functionalities at the same time! As before, you do not have to use actual money, as you can use the demo currency from the Taler demonstrator to register names for a relatively small portion of the play money you receive when you sign up there.
The GNUnet GNS Registrar has never been actually released as a tarball. Until now. Feel free to download and test it. We have also updated the README and added a section to the GNUnet handbook.
Similarly, for some time now, we have been mirroring the .ee and .nu TLDs on our main GNUnet peer to demonstrate how real-world TLD can be mirrored using our Ascension service. This completes Milestone 1a. For the remaining Milestone 1b, the goal is to tackle the issue of TLDs that do not have any usable open data such as AFNIC's simple CSV which only contains the names it has on register, but not the actual DNS records (NS, A etc).
